Hey crafty friends! Michelle here sharing a very festive Christmas card using 2 of the builder Christmas stamp sets.
As soon as I saw the Build A Modern Christmas stamp set, I knew that I wanted to make a background with the words. I had originally thought to use them all but I was dreaming pretty big there lol In the end I decided to use just a few of them and I love the effect it gives! To start my card I used the 5 words….Fa la la, Jingle, Joy, Merry and Christmas. I placed them in my stamp positioner in the middle and made sure they were lined up well. By placing them in the middle I would have enough room at the top and bottom for my paper, as I would be moving it each time I stamped them.
I stamped with Everglades Color Hive Ink on some watercolour paper and immediately heat embossed in clear embossing powder. I made sure the embossing heat tool was nice and hot each time, to try and minimize any warping. After each time, I moved the paper up so that I could realign the stamps just underneath the previous. I continued to stamp the sentiments and heat emboss until I had my paper covered. Next I smooshed the Telephone Box Color Hive Ink pad on my work surface. This was so I could do a watercolour wash using the Color Hive Ink, as it water reactive. I wet my paper and just brushed the ink on going darkest at the top and working my way to the bottom.
I trimmed my paper to 3.75″x5″ once it was dry. Next I heat embossed the sentiment in gold on the Asteroid Velum using the Clear Embossing Ink Pad from the same stamp set. I used Everglades Color Hive Ink for the tree from the Nordic Watercolor Builder stamp set. The details on the tree were heat embossed in gold to match the sentiment. I also stamped and embossed the top part of the part of the tree, so I could cut out the star. I then handcut the tree and attached the star on top using some glue and wrapped the velum around the card and attached it using some tape in the back. The tree was added using some foam adhesive. To finish it I popped it up on an A2 cardbase using the Eclipse Black cardstock. Then added a few gold pearls to complete it.
I love how this came out…was exactly as I had envisoned! Both of these sets are so versatile. I hope you have enjoyed my post for today. I wish you all the most wonderful day and hope you get some time to sit down and get crafty! Thanks for stopping by and until next time 🙂
