Happy Wednesday! Kimberly here with a quick mixed media card to share using some of the new releases from this month including the beautiful Flights of Fancy stamp set.

I made this butterfly card by ink smooshing some Color Hive inks on a watercolor panel. I am using a red and green which are complementary colors so it is really important to make sure each color is completely dry before adding the next otherwise I will get a brown mush background and that is not what I was going for. To begin, I ink smooshed Hyde Park Color Hive ink on the panel and dried it with my heat gun. Then, I smooshed Flamingo and Blue Raspberry respectively.

Next, I blended the ink over the Geometric Lace stencil using Hyde Park over the green on the panel. I did the same with Flamingo and Blue Raspberry.

Then, I added some water splatters. Once that was dry, I stamped the open circle stamp from the Pattern Play stamp set.

I stamped “Dream” from the Rustic Words Stamp Set using Flat White Color Hive ink.

Then, I used Texture Paste to add a little dimension.

While the paste dried, I ink blended Blue Raspberry Color Hive ink through the Geometric Lace stencil on watercolor paper.

I stamped the butterfly from the “Flights of Fancy” stamp set over the ink blended panel using Flat White Color Hive ink. To fill in the edges of the butterfly, I picked up some Flat White ink off my glass mat with a water brush and colored it in. Then, I fussy cut the butterfly image out.

To finish the card, I added foam tape to the ink smooshed panel and added it to an Ultra White cardstock base. Then glued the body of the butterfly to the panel folding the wings up for a 3D look.

I love the combination of these sets for an easy mixed media look. I also made the next card using the same sets as well as the same steps.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
