Today, I am sharing a Mini Slim one layer card. I started by taking a sheet of the limited edition Starlight (Metallic Champagne) Cardstock and cutting a card panel to 6.5″ x 3.5.” Next, I lined up the Polka Dot – Square Stencil on my card panel. Using some post-it note tape to block off the top and bottom of my card panel, I started ink blending some Purple Rain ink over the stencil. To get a deeper color, I went “direct to paper” and squished my ink pad over the stencil. Then I used my blending brush to transfer the ink from the stencil to the card panel.
After, I carefully removed my post it tape, I cleaned my stencil well. Then, I rotated my stencil 90 degrees and taped it down again at the top and bottom. Following the previous method, I used my blending brush and Rah Rah Skirt to blend a second color on my panel. As a result of this transition, I have a continuing pattern from the stencil, though in a different color.
While I still had my inks and brushes out, I decided to add some more color. I took the post it note tape, I carefully tacked it over the patterned part of my card panel. Then I used the Purple Rain to ink blend the top and bottom to create a sort of border. Then I set my panel aside for a bit to dry.
Next, I took a piece of scrap black shiny cardstock and cut out 1/8″ strips. I also cut out the word you from scrap black cardstock with a die from my stash. Then, I placed my panel in my Original Misti. Next, I stamped the Celebrate from Night Garden set in Remarkable Eclipse Black ink in the middle of my panel. I used some liquid glue to attach the you die cut under my stamped Celebrate. I also attached the black strips to the top and bottom of card panel where my purple ink and stenciled pattern meet. This creates a frame of sorts. Then, I used liquid glue to attach the panel to my 6.5″ x 3.5″ white card base.
