Happy Spring to everyone,
I think the sightings of bunnies is definitely a true sign that spring has sprung! Another sign is the dawning of pastels. So I have made a slimline card marrying the two to celebrate the new season. Maker Forte has created a wonderful slimline word stencil by repeating the word bunny. This stencil works perfectly with what I consider a standard slimline card which is 3.5 x 8.5 inch card.
Follow along to see my card making process. Hopefully this will give others some ideas for their own card making.

My first step is to decide what I am going to add to the card front to convey a message and create a focal image. I am adding a rustic sign from the new Maker Forte ’Bunny Patch’ stamp set. The message is perfect for my sentiment and works well with the stencil I am using to create the background. I colored the sign using Copic morkers.

The next step is to create the card layers. I die cut a slim line base and a layer one to use for the background. since I used a die with an edge I did not add anything else to it. Next I stamped some hexagons onto the layer one in a very pale blue. I did not want to distract from the focus of the card but wanted to add a bit of something. for this step I finished by stenciling the word bunny across the layer. I chose three spring colors of ink and centered the middle word not worrying how much of the outer words would fit onto the layer. This is the point that I decided to let the stenciling be my bunnies rather then stamp and color actual bunny images. I believe our brains will automatically see bunnies so why add them. I have a hard time with deciding when to stop adding to my card fronts. i seem to go very clean and simple or extremely adorned with stamped images. i am working on a happy medium I hope.

The final step is to assemble the pieces. I attached the sentiment using form tape to add a bit of dimension to the card. I also added a twine bow tucked in behind the sign and a few enamel dots. I see this layout as one that can be used with various options of word stencils and stamped images. Over all this was a quick and easy card to create with a big impact thanks to the Maker Forte word stencil.
Happy creating and enjoy the season!
