Easy One Layered Card

Hi everyone,

Do you wonder how your favorite designers get such a gorgeous look with just one layer? Are you interested in learning more about one layer cards? I hope so, because today I’m going to share an easy one layered card that’s gorgeous and bulk-free!

This card took me less than an hour from start to finish! All you need are a few of your favorite ink colors, a favorite sentiment die, the Flower Trio slimline stencil, and Believe in Yourself background stamp.

First up was to stamp the Believe in Yourself background in Lemon Whip by Pinkfresh Studio, the lightest of 4 ink colors. Next, I adhered the Flower Trio stencil in the top section over the stamped background. I did some ink blending with Sunshine from Pinkfresh Studio. I used a heavy hand to be sure the stencil design showed up over the background. Can you see the lovely details in the photo below?

I just love how the background peeks through the stencil without stealing the show! Using the same color family helps everything stay cohesive.

Next step was to add a sentiment die, and I had the perfect one on hand! I glued it between the two designs to create a focal point and help each design pop off the page a little more. I stamped “I Believe In You” beneath the die sentiment. Then I trimmed down the card piece to 5.25×4 and adhered it over a black card base. I love how there’s only 2 colors in this card, yet the end result is vibrant and exciting! And, it’s one layer!

I hope you found inspiration to play with one layered cards. They are so much fun! Remember to start with simple ones, like my card idea, and move to more complex ones as you become confident.
