Hello Friends and happy Saturday! Katy here and today I am sharing another birthday card featuring the new Hats Off To You! stencil. This is one stencil that offers several parts to create some fun party hats as well as a mask for the main hat. I chose to use just the stripe overlay portion for my card and as soon as I added the Marshmallow Paste it instantly looked like a tree…haha

Keep that in mind for the holidays 😉

I want you to know that I was struggling to come up with a project for today, sometimes when I have a lot going on it happens and nothing seems to come together creatively. When I have this problem I fall back on a favorite technique, in this case ink blending.

Ink Blending is one of my most favorite things to do and if you follow my Youtube channel you will know I have lots of tips and tricks that I share to help you get better ink blending.

The number one tip I can give you: (it’s not you it’s your paper and not the one everyone raves about!) My personal favorite is Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper (100% Cotton to be exact) However, I thought I would try a paper that is new to me (I always try to keep an open mind) and in todays video I am trying out the Perfect Blend Card Stock from Maker Forte.

My initial thoughts: It is different, but I like it, depending on the look I am going for. It reminds me of Yupo paper in that, it is really glossy and almost feels like plastic, but as you blend, the ink dries/absorbs into the paper, something Yupo doesn’t do.

In the video I share how I ink blended this panel using a new ink blending technique that is super easy. The video tutorial has all the details and if you have trouble watching here on the blog, please click here to watch on Youtube.
