Create an ink smooshed and splattered layered background using your Color Hive inks.

I played with all but 2 of the green and blue/green colors today! I added layer upon layer of ink smooshing and splattering to create my own unique background.

I used mixed media paper and dried each layer with my heat tool before adding the next layer.

My card base in a nice red cardstock cut to 4-1/4 x 11″. I scored and folded it at 5-1/2″. I trimmed down my inked panel to 4 x 5-1/4″. I also added 5 red strips of paper cut at 1/4 x 4-1/4″ to allow me a place to anchor my focal image and sentiment.

You can see that I layered two sentiments together on top of the strips as well.

I finished off the card with some red Nuvo glossy dots from my stash.

I stamped several of the Holly Berry stamp set images and then added color using Cotswold Green, and Everglade green to the leaves. I added the ink with a wet paint brush and a tiny bit of water. The berries are done with two layers of Telephone Box red.

I fussy cut my holly out and popped the piece up on foam squares.

I always create a second background when I do this technique by picking up the leftover ink layers on my mat. This allowed me to create 2 Christmas tags. I love getting a bonus project that will be useful during the holidays!
