Hello crafty friends! Kimberly here and I am so excited to share my first post as a Maker Forte Design Team member! I just love black and white backgrounds. In this card, I created the background paper and used the floral swag a little differently by cutting it in half. Let me tell you a little more about how I created this!

I started out by making the black and white background by repeatedly stamping the floral swag stamp from “Bless This Nest“, a Maker Forte collaboration with Jess Francisco. I stamped the flower and hummingbird on a separate piece of Neenah cardstock using Color Hive reMARKable Eclipse Black ink which is perfect for coloring with Copic Markers. After I colored the flower swag, I fussy cut it and snipped it in half. I wanted the two ends to face upward for the hummingbird to hover over the small hibiscus bud. I wanted to have a sky behind the images so I ink smooshed Hero Hues Reactive ink “Pool Party” on a piece of watercolor paper. Next I stamped the sentiment and trimmed it a little different than a usual flag edge. I layered the two pieces of the sentiment on a piece of Eclipse Black cardstock. This is what I had before I assembled my card:

I cut a 4 1/8″x 5 3/8″ piece of Eclipse Black cardstock and layered it on the white card base. Then I added the black and white stamped background panel. I used foam tape for dimension on the ink smooshed piece and added the flowers to it. I arranged the sentiment on both sides of the card and popped the hummingbird up on foam tape. To finish it off, I added some Mercury Kaleidoscope powder on the hummingbird. I love the shine, but was not able to capture it on camera. I just adore this hummingbird! Ok, who is ready for spring?
