Hello! It’s Kari here and I’m excited to share these tags and ornaments made with the new Mermazing Christmas stamp set.

I’ve created a short video to share how I created these to be sturdy enough for a tag OR a tree ornament. Watch the video below or in HD on YouTube:

I cut the large tags three times: once from red cardstock, once from white cardstock, and once from chipboard to sandwich in the middle. The chipboard really makes these sturdy. If you don’t have chipboard, you can use packaging or cereal boxes!

White Tag Layer

For the white layer, which will become the back of the tag, I stamped the year and the name of the recipient. I used the large Farmhouse Numbers stamp set for this. To create the year “2021,” I first stamped the last three numbers “021” on each of the tags. Then I removed the 2 and put it in the front to create the whole year.

Red Tag Layer

On the red tag layer, I white heat embossed the snowflake sentiment. Once I colored and cut out each of the mermaids, I added them with foam tape for more dimension. I colored these up to look like the recipients! (They’re going to love that!)

Once I glued all the tag layers together, I added some green & white baker’s twine in a loop so it could be hung on the tree and used as a gift tag. I think they look pretty great on some packages!

Other Ideas & Options

If you don’t want to color up the mermaids…that snowflake sentiment makes a great tag on it’s own! I love it white heat embossed on red and cut out with a circle die.

Also, that mermaid stamp set makes some beautiful cards! Here I stamped it with a light ink (fog) and colored it up with copics.

I hope you got some inspiration today! Let me know if you are making Christmas tags or ornaments this year.

I put together a list of these products so you can find them easily, if you are looking. These links include affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission when you use these links, at no additional cost to you. Thank you! We hope you enjoy these products, too!
