I have a few tips to share today about adding details to stenciled images. You can step your card up a lot with a few little details!

Oh how I love all the Color Hive ink colors! I pulled out several of my favorite ink colors to make this card today! I used Blue Moon, Coronation Purple, Bubblegum, and Yellowstone.

I started by simply adding my colors to a piece of white cardstock with blender brushes and the Oh, Hello Spring stencil.

Once the coloring was done, I added some Nuvo drops to the hearts, flowers, and dots. This added lots of texture and dimension to the card along with lots of shine!

I added some marker details to the leaves and letters. You can use markers or colored pencils to add some flicking details to leaves and a shadow along the edge of the letters. This makes them more interesting and dimensional.

You can see here that I also added some white gel pen details to the deep purple letters. I actually attended some virtual classes last week and one of them was about adding gel pen details. It was a fabulous class and I carefully followed the instructions to add gel pen to this card.

It seems like a lot of gel pen, but I do like the end result. The instructor shared several ways to add gel pen details. I have used two of them here. I added a line with two dots and then a triangle of 3 dots. The gel pen adds a whimsical touch to the card and it brightens the letters tremendously.

I felt like the Nuvo drops added lots of shine and texture to the card. I added some Blue Moon ink blending around the edge of the card and I really loved how that elevated the final card.

You can also see that I added some Crown Jewel gems to finish off the card. Is any card really complete without the gems? I don’t think so!
