Hi Krafty Friends, Jen from Katahdin Krafts, up on the blog today with this cute Christmas in July card. When I saw Jess Francisco’s cute “Christmas Vibes” set, I knew Santa had to hang his laundry on palm trees to dry!! How else would he do it?
The first thing I did to make my card was cut a white piece of cardstock to 5.25″ x 4″ for my card panel. Then I blended my sky with Distress Oxide inks in “Tumbled Glass” and “Spun Sugar” (my favorite sky combo). I used several pieces of scrap cardstock to make my beach and ocean, I created my wavy effect by tearing the cardstock on the edges. I used a Kraft color for the sand, and various blues for the ocean. I made sure to get some white caps in there with a shimmering cream cardstock as well. I let my layers overhang on the edges of my card panel, and simply cut them flush after I finished layering the paper.
Next, I die cut palm trees from Lawn Fawn’s “Tropical Backdrop” and used Copic Markers to give them a little definition. Then I stamped out Santa’s laundry with Eclipse Black Ink, and colored it with my florescent Copic Markers. I wanted them to be as bright as I could get them! Next, I stamped out my sentiment and cut it out with a die cut banner from Honey Bee Stamps. I let my ink dry for a few minutes then colored the sentiment banner with my FYG1 Copic Marker. Then I assembled my card as shown. I added a few shell stickers from my stash, along with some star (fish) sequins. My card base is 8.5″ x 5.5″ scored at the 4.25″ mark.

Such a fun card to make! I have the beach on my mind here in northern Maine! We have a trip planned next month to camp near the beach and I can’t wait! I see a pattern of beachy cards in my future! Thank you so much for joining me again this week, I will see you very soon with another project using these amazing products! Until then, happy krafting!
