Summer is here and our thoughts turn to vacations. I am thinking Hawaii for my next trip. The designer paper in the photo background gave me the inspiration for the card colors. The Maker Forte ‘Surfs Up’ layering Stamp Set is perfect for this creation.

I started by ink blending three different color combinations. Next I stamped the surfboard outline on each blended background. Now I chose the design of each board and the colors for them. The inside designs were stamped onto the boards. Finally I cut the surfboards out.

The next big decision is picking out a design for the card to frame the surfboards. Beach tee shirts and the designs on them came to mind. I settled on the colorful stripes often seen on the tees. I left a margin of white on the top and bottom. Using the “eclipse black ink” I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card layer.

The final step was to attach the surfboards to the card using foam tape to give the card dimension. I added a few sequins to add sparkle like the sun reflecting off of water. All of this layer was put onto a standard 5×7 inch black card base.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how my mind works when creating a card.
