Got a super cool technique for you today! We are going to use a stencil as a mask and do some cool ink blending with this stamp set and matching stencil.

This card reminds me of the Northern lights with the ombre blending in the sky. I love how the stencil is the exact match to the stampset!

How To Create This Card

For this card I used Maker Forte’s Deer Scene Stamp and Stencil bundle.

I first stamped the image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Maker Forte Slimline card front card stock.sc

Then I laid the stencil over the stamped image. This allows me to ink blend around the stamped image without fussy cutting a mask of the image. This scene is very intricate and fussy cutting would be out of the question.

But the stencil lays directly over the stamped image and creates a nice mask for ink blending.

I used Post-it Removable Labeling Tape to hide the lower portion of the image. This allowed me to just ink blend the sky and not touch the grass part of the scene. I did an ombre effect with the sky blending using, Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet in that order.

Next I used a Gelly Roll pen to create white stairs in the sky.

Then I masked off the top section of the card so I could ink blend the bottom half where the gras would be.

For this I blended mostly Evergreen Bough and just a hint of Blueprint Sketch at the very top to create a shadow.

For the sentiment I heat embossed it with Hero Arts white embossing powder and then cut the out line with my Silhouette Cameo and Pixscan mat. That comes in handy when you do not have a coordinating die for your stampset.
