Hi there, Happy October! Today I’m on the blog sharing two cards using the sentiments as a focal point. I hope you enjoy!

Both of these cards are very similar with the main difference being the colors used. The stencil used for the cards is called Checkmate Square and the stamp set Spending Time With You.

For both cards I placed the stencil onto a piece of 4 ¼ x 5 ½ cardstock. For the first card the color Salvaged Patina in Distress Ink was blended over the stencil. The stencil was then picked up and moved over so that the blending that was just done was covered up and white space visible. In the white space I then used Weathered Wood Oxide Ink. Next a die from my stash was used to cut out a portion of the stenciled background. A sentiment from Spending Time With You was then stamped into this open space. A die set was used for the Hi sentiment. A few enamel dots were added to complete this card.

For the second card Antique Linen Oxide Ink was applied through the stencil with a heavy hand. As with the card above, the stencil was then moved over and additional ink was blended through the stencil. However, this time with a lighter touch. This created a beautiful variation of the same color. The sentiment was stamped in blue embossing powder directly over the stenciled background. The word Hey was color with Salvaged Patina Distress Ink and die cut. The shadow for the word was die cut using Starlight Metallic card stock. A few enamel dots were then adhered to finish off the card.

I hope you create something today! Thanks so much for stopping by!
