Hello crafty friends. Jackie with you here today to show you another way to use your supplies. Have you ever thought to watercolor with your Copic refills? It’s actually easier than you may think.

I started out by stamping this amazing gems from the Dream Reader set with Eclipse Black ink. I may be sounding like a broken record, but this is by favorite ink when working with Copics. It seriously the only ink that doesn’t smear. Now back to the card. I wanted to keep with the soft jewels tones, so I chose R20, Y11, B000, and YG03 for the background. I’m using a refillable water pen that I filled with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Working with my glass mat, I add just a drop of each color to the side. Then just like watercoloring, I pick up a small amount of color and paint the area. Since it’s alcohol, it dries pretty fast. I can go back and blend and build the colors.
I colored the gems just like would any image. Coloring with the lightest color first, then adding the darkest color for shadow, blending with the medium tone, then back with the lightest color to blend it all together.
Once all the coloring was completed, I moved on to the sentiment. I placed black cardstock in my Misti and positioned the You’re a Gem sentiment. I stamped it with Clear Embossing Glue and dusted it with Snow Flurries Embossing powder. After heating setting it with a heat gun, I cut the strip to about ¼ inch. I added foam dimension tape and placed it over the colored image.
